When We Free is a international community collaboration initiated by one person, Me!

… I am the Universe loving itself, including you. I move in the world as a genderqueer black person born and raised in the south; called Julia Roxanne Wallace also Sangodare Akinwale and am excited to grow my knowledge and understanding everyday in collaboration with others and share these discoveries in creative ways. My primary collaborator is Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs.

My blood was made strong by Black Baptist church and my passionate work was ignited at the age of 5 by Michael Jackson’s documentary about The Making of Thriller. I have been growing my super powers to communicate and transform myself and others by obtaining formal education, creating multimedia solutions for organizations and individuals, serving a number of affirming spiritual and religious communities, teaching and facilitating, co-hosting retreats, especially black feminist retreats, in the south, and traveling the country growing family and honoring Black LGBTQ/SGL/Queer/Homoattractional elders.
